From Page To Screen
Sometimes sci-fi seems completely separate from reality. It's not easy to relate to, it doesn't seem possible, and it is filled with the unknown. If that's the type of book you like to read, don't read Never Let Me Go. Ishiguro created a world that doesn't seem at all different from our own at first glance. It looks like a coming of age story, and it's set in the past. Instead, it is a world of clones, donors and the question of identity. How so much depth is fit into so normal a book is a mystery, I don't know, but somehow Ishiguro captured so much in fewer than 300 pages.
The novel was also turned into a movie in 2010, starring Carrie Mulligan and Andrew Garfield. I haven't seen it yet, but it is on my list. I don't think you can fully capture the depth of Ruth, Tommy and Kathy's problems in 1hr 45min, but none the less it looks like a great story
